Center for Dementia Respite Innovation
The Life Center has been awarded the Center for Dementia Respite Innovation grant from the Alzheimer’s Association which allows us to expand and enhance our current programming for participants and caregivers.
Our staff are trained with the Alzheimer’s Association’s essentialALZ training, which educates professional care providers on current evidence-based, person-centered practices to care for individuals living with dementia.
Expanded Participant Programming
The Life Center is enhancing aspects of our programming to promote the health, engagement, and peer support of our participants.
Bathing Services
The Life Center provides bathing services utilizing our accessible walk-in shower with shower chairs, grab bars, and a hand-held shower head. This service helps to improve hygiene for participants.
Respite
Limited respite scholarships are available to pay for adult day services at The Life Center to help improve the quality of life for the caregiver and care recipient.
Art
The Life Center is leading weekly art sessions to help stimulate creativity and motor skills, while promoting engagement for individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.
Technology
To support cognitive stimulation, as well as group participation, The Life Center is integrating SmartBoard technology to offer interactive applications to our participants.



Tai Chi and Yoga
With gentle adaptable exercises to allow for person-centered care, The Life Center is offering Tai Chi and Yoga to our participants.
Nutrion Education
The Life Center’s menu is upscaled with fresh and organic options for the fruits, vegetables, and proteins to offer our participants more nutritious breakfasts, lunches and afternoon snacks.
Advance Care Planning
By offering support with advance care planning, The Life Center wants to help caregivers make informed choices regarding advance directives following the care recipient’s values and wishes.
