About The Life Center...

The Life Center opened its doors in July of 1980.  The organization's first home was at the old Lexington Hospital.  The center's name originated from the abbreviation L.I.F.E.  which stood for "Lexington Interests for the Elderly".  In 1986, a steering committee was formed, and in the late 1980's The Life Center became incorporated and received its 501(c)3 non-profit status.  Bylaws were drafted for the organization in July of 1987.

In the late 1980's, The Life Center of Davidson County, Inc. moved from the hospital to 8 Franklin Street in Lexington.  In 1997, the Board decided to purchase the PrintCraft building at 601 West Center Street in Lexington.  In 2002, The Life Center of Davidson County, Inc. moved into its current location.  The building has over 900 square feet and includes a commercial kitchen, screened-in porch, fitness room, nursing suite with a treatment room, an Alzheimer's room, 13 bathrooms, walk-in shower, beauty salon and barber area, and several other specialized areas.  Many individuals and corporations in the community with noted help from the Etta and Henry Link family for whom the building is named in honor of donated to the capital campaign.
